Climate Ankara Project Launched to Support Ankara’s Green and Digital Transformation

The "Climate Ankara: Digital Transformation Mobile Application for Enviromental Energy and Climate Managment" project, supported by the Ankara Development Agency, was officially launched on 17 September 2026.

The launch event, held at the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Conference Hall, brought together Ahmet Mekin Tüzün, Deputy Secretary-General of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, Abdulmelik Koçin, Head of the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit at the Ankara Development Agency, Ömer Faruk Öztürk, Head of the Department of Climate Change and Zero Waste, representatives from public institutions and organizations, and other project stakeholders.

The project aims to support Ankara’s green and digital transformation by bringing together data on climate change, energy and zero waste generated by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality on a shared digital platform. The platform will enable environmental indicators to be monitored regularly, data to be analyzed more effectively, and evidence-based information to support decision-making processes.

The mobile application will also provide citizens with practical tools to engage more actively with sustainability. Users will be able to calculate their carbon footprint, find waste collection points through an interactive map, and access information and practical guidance on energy efficiency and environmentally friendly lifestyles.

Strengthening institutional capacity is another important aspect of the project. Training and capacity-building activities will support municipal staff in developing their skills in data management, data analytics and the effective use of digital tools.

Through the Climate Ankara Project, the Ankara Development Agency aims to contribute to a stronger data-driven approach to environmental management, more efficient use of resources, and greater institutional and public awareness of climate change across Ankara.
